What do you do when you never receive thank you notes for gifts that you send?
My godchild moved to another state and I don’t get to see her often. I send her gifts for every birthday and Christmas. Of all the times I have sent gifts, I’ve only received one phone call to thank me. My mother thinks that I should stop sending gifts. She is 13.

She’s just a kid and obviously was not brought up to have decent manners. Just stop sending the gifts or tell her on the phone that when she receives something, it is polite to say "thank you" upon receiving them. Have someone teach her some manners. Talk to the parents about it maybe.

Call her parents and ask them if she received the gift. You were concerned because you never heard from her and thought it might have gotten lost in the mail. If that doesn’t work, send a nice card, no more gifts.

I call and verify that the gift was received.

As far as whether or not to continue sending them, that’s up to you. If you are giving to get something then stop. If you give stuff just because you like to give things, then keep doing so.

The point of giving gifts is not to get thank you cards. To be honest I couldn’t tell you who thanked me the most for Christmas presents this year. I honestly don’t care.

I send birthday cards and gifts to young people who are close family until they are 18. If they don’t call me or send thank you notes, it all stops the day they turn 18 or when they start work. Whichever is first.

As long as you know that they able to received the gift then dont expect them to say thanks, if they will say thank you then that would be wonderful and nice and if they won’t, then let it be.

I forgot to send my grandmother a thank you note one year. I did not receive a gift the following year.
Grandma has always gotten a thank you note for every gift she sends since then.
Personally, I’ll settle for a phone call.

I’m with your mom. That kid needs to learn some gratitude. I don’t even know my godparents.
