“CHANGE OF PLACE, A DIFFERENT PLACE, TODAY’S THE DATE, TO CHOOSE YOUR FATE”
1.THE CREATURE
Is it a wonderful gift or a tremendous burden? Waking up to a power that you posses, which you must keep hidden from those who wouldn’t understand? To keep it from those who might label you inferior, an absolute freak of nature, or maybe even dangerous. Does it help, that you don’t know where you came from? Does it help, that the only memory you have is a small trinket? Worse you cannot possibly explain it. Your whole life is based on what people tell you. What or where people say you come from is all you have to stand by. How are you to know if the name you bear is really what it should be? Maybe someday, you’ll find your answers you are longing to restore. Maybe find someone who can tell you where you came from, or at least give you a vague idea. “Rani” is my name, or what people in the human world have called me. So the many orphanages I have lived in have told me, I lost my mother and father when I was little (Of course I couldn’t remember them) for their story doesn’t exist. The only memory I have of “them” is this leather bracelet. On this trinket was a small wavy line going around the outside. Resembling the waves of the ocean. In the dents of the wavy line is one big dot with five smaller dots around that one. In every single dent. Like a constant reminder that I am truly alone. Now this for any human would be a shocker. I can produce water from my hands, like it flows through my veins just as much as my blood. Of course I know the human body has water in it, but this, this was extreme. Maybe I should have noticed it by now. The way tears come out when I feel any emotion. Like their forcing themselves on me. Being sixteen, on your own, and having strength so powerful, that you have to be careful what kind of emotions you let out. That is no way to live. Then there’s that dream, the one I have every night since I can remember. Standing in an overwhelming darkness. The wind is blowing on my face harder than most I have felt. My face warm, as if fire were about to touch it. The earth beneath me shaking. My hands about to explode from the pressure under my skin. All in sync, as if they mean something, as if all those elements are meant to be there in my dream, in the darkness. “RANI!” It jerked me from my thoughts. I hadn’t realized I was still in class “Oh……..Um………yes, Miss Ran” I responded to this quite young women. Her long yellow and gold hair pulled back in a bun, glasses at the tip of her nose, giving her blue coral reef eyes a compliment. She was a bit too young to be a teaching in history, at least by my opinion. “Were you paying any attention on the lesson” she asked with her eyebrows narrowed. “Miss, to be completely truthful I found it quite boring.” “Well then Rani, you can get yourself out of my boring class.” No! My mind thought, but my mouth wouldn’t open. I really didn’t want to be there, I could be anywhere else. I have powers far greater than anyone in that room! Why waste my time on history? What I posses, is impossibly greater than anything I’d find in those books. “That’s perfectly fine with me Miss Ran!” I stormed out before things got out of hand. I could feel water coming to my palms as if it was waiting for me to react, to finally snap, and lose control. This always happens to me. I say or do something incredibly stupid and get kicked out of a class, an orphanage, and a home. “Look on the Brightside” I always tell myself. There has to be a Brightside right? There has to be some ray of hope for me out there, right? RIGHT???!!! At this moment my Brightside is I can get to work earlier, maybe get some extra cash to pay on rent. Another thing to worry about paying an overpriced rent. On an overly priced stinky and smelly apartment. To an overly stuck up snob. Who could care less what your life situation is. As long as they get their money. I guess this…………..”OWWWW!! Losing my train of thoughts once again. “Oh!!! I am so sorry didn’t mean to!!!” responding to a girl that I had RUN into and knocked down, the result for being in my train of thoughts. “Well next time watch where you’re going.” The tone in her voice was glum, empty. As if she was trying to act angry but couldn’t quite get it. Despite her fiery response, my control was in check for some odd reason. Her eyes glared at me, almost maroon colored, but not quite. Her clothes were what made her stand out. Her shirt was normal, a dark red colored tank top. Her shorts were a different story. A ribbon tied around her waist at the tip of her belt line. Hanging from the ribbon, were layers of fabric, like a ruffled skirt. Just one side of the rope had it. The colors hanging from her were magnificent.
