What are some things my sister and I (along with my kids) could do in ONE DAY in New York City?
Obviously the possibilities are endless. I'll be picking my sister up from La Guartia at 1030am (on a Wednesday) and we would love to spend the day in New York City. I have a 2y/o and a 4 month old so that drops some of the possibilites down. What are the must do things in New York keeping in mind there are children with.

You really have to plan the day out. The reason is because it takes time to get to one place to another in Manhattan. You dont want to get there, and then decide what to do…its overwhelming….. This is my favorite place to visit.

I always go see a play, visit the Boathouse restaurant in Central Park, and go to a comedy club. But since you have kids perhaps you want to do some sightseeing….the wax museum, empire state buiding, central park.

Long lines are not what you want, So many of the tourist stops may not be the best for you. Also, if you can find a babysitter for the 4 month old, that would be best for both of you. A two year old is enough to handle for the two of you.

    * A day at the Metropolitan Museum and Central Park is an option, Start at the Museum, then go into the park at Delacorte Caste/ Turtle Pond and head south. After Delacorte Castle go to the boat house (great sandwiches and OK fast food), then Bethesda Fountain, then the Carousel, and the Zoo. Exit at 59th St and visit FAO Schwartz

I would go to the Museum of Natural History Go to the Gem room and the Whale room and then take a walk across Central Park. Maybe take a walk down Madison Ave and pretend that you could really shop in those stores
Another idea is to go to the green market in Union Square (I think it is open on Wed, but you should check) There is a nice play ground in Union Square. You could then wander around 14 st look into the cheap junky shops on 14 and then walk down to the village.
    Enjoy
