Travel to France to Experience Parisian Theater

Posted by admin

France touring is more noteworthy because of its sharp cultural roots. The French have forever been known as the connoisseurs of the arts be it music, literature as well as theater.

Literature played a principal part in the French cultural picture right from the 18th century when the miracle and morality plays attracted large audiences around the church of Notre dame. France travel is certain to bring up some names.

Some of the foremost names in the theatrical record of the world like Victor Hugo, Alexander Dumas and Samuel Becket have been instrumental in both popularizing theatre in Paris as well as providing a concrete influence to the art form as a whole. Therefore, it is imperative for those who enjoy traveling France to witness the scenes where some of the foremost works of the chronicle of theatre have been staged. On your journey to France, Paris can certainly argue to be the spirit of the theatrical and intellectual activities of the world. Experiencing a theatrical performance in Paris can be an experience of a lifetime!

The fact that the city pays great attention to its theatrical heritage is evident from the point of view that theatre is not just an isolated activity in Paris but a major attraction of France travel. It is surrounded by a number of other activities, which revolve around the theatre as well. These comprise periodicals and newspapers, which are dedicated exclusively to the theatre.

Targeted largely at the tourists of Paris, many of these magazines like the Pariscope: Une Semaine de Paris and the Figaroscope are published at frequent intervals and regularly enclose a unique segment in English for the non-French speaking tourists who want a flavor of the theatre of Paris. Contributing to the boost of France travel, these periodicals present a listing of all the plays that take place in and around Paris.

For more information, the Saison de Paris can be obtained. It is a booklet offered at the tourism office located in Paris which can give the tourist essential information on the plays to view and the means of reaching the theatres. The tickets can be purchased at the theatre itself. However, it is best to get them at an early date.

However, for silent admirers of France a hassle free experience at the theatre is possible. One can ask the hotel reception or contact the nearest agent. Theatres in Paris cater to a broad range of tastes and intellectual sensibilities. Some of these comprise major productions, historical reconstructions and musicals besides a number of other genres.

Starting with Greek tragedies to more contemporary productions like light comedies, opera and one-man shows, Paris has them all. Cafe theatre, one of the most popular forms of entertainment and an attraction of France travel, available in Paris provides political satire and an reason for getting out of the tourist mode, which can be quite welcomed after long stretches of traveling through mundane modes of city watching.

Of the theatres in Paris, the best known is possibly the Moulin rouge, which has a number of other theaters in the world modeled after it. Other important venues comprise the Odeon, which is renowned all over Europe for its post war production of the plays of Ionesco, Edward Albee, and Samuel Beckett, who have been instrumental in giving theatre a more concrete form not just in France but all around the world! So, what are you waiting for? Include theatre in your France travel journeys for a lifetime experience.

ALLI BABA KING OF NIGERIA COMEDIAN

Posted by admin

Times were when nobody could hold up his head and claim to be a comedian in Nigeria. Those who did anything close, preferred to be known as Masters-of-Ceremony (MC). This was because it was more prestigious to go by the appellation of an MC than to be associated with a bunch of people who were described with some of the worst epithets, like ‘loafers’, ‘people with no future ambition’, jokers’ and the like.

Incidentally, these people were not devoted to comedy; they breezed in and out of it.

What is known as the Nigerian comedy industry today, probably took roots a little over 10 years ago. There are two landmarks that signpost the current age of prosperity for Nigerian comedians. Number One: Opa Williams gave the teeming number of Nigerian comedians and the public something to look forward to with the entrenchment of a session of frolicking called ‘A Night of a Thousand Laughs’. Strategically positioned to hold on Nigeria’s anniversary every October 1.

The programme has since taken a life of its own, churning out an increasing number of deliverables like Cds, T-Shirts amisdt other souvenirs.

Number Two: The industry witnessed the arrival of Atunnyota Alleluya Akpobome, better known as, Ali Baba. Really tongue twisting you might say, little wonder he opted for a short cut name Ali Baba

Everyone in the industry agrees that it was Akpobome who gave comedy the beautiful face it wears today in Nigeria. Undoubtedly, he became the first comedian to be well paid in Nigeria. He hit the scene with a bang in 1993 and has never looked back since. From the beginning, Akpobome set out to play in the big league. It was a deliberate choice that he made and took all of five years to nuture, packaging himself to perform for those who appreciate his art.

In 1998, Ali registered his company, “Ali Baba Hiccupurathird”. You think the name of his enterprise is funny, but he meant business. That was the year he erected three billboards in strategic locations in Lagos: Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, Victoria Island, Osborne Road, Ikoyi and the Marina. He paid N150,000 for each billboard per year for two years. It was like a thunder bolt that hit the landscape when organisers of events found it hard to pay comedians amounts ranging between N10,000 and N20,000. The billboard carried a simple message “Ali Baba-Being Funny is Serious Business”.

#Today, the 1990 graduate of Religious Studies/Philosophy, Bendel State University, Ekpoma has established a reputation that is hard to beat. You can see him driving around town in a Monster Truck with a personalized plate number “Ali Baba 1”. The other car, which he explains were acquired as showbiz apparatus, is a Dodge Ram registered as “Ali Baba 2”.

He also rides a Lexus, an E-Class, a LR3 and a Landcruiser. He must really be a lover of cars if you ask me.

No doubt comedy is serious business. Or what else can one ask for?

So whatever you know how to do, do it well, even if it is as plain as making people laugh.

5 Easy Tips to Fast and Efficient Booklet Printing

Posted by admin

Booklet printing is used for a variety of commercial purposes. People print booklets to make training manuals, travel guides, program overviews, pamphlets and many other things. The booklet is nimble, perfect for use in a variety of industries because of its readily distributable nature as well as the ease with which people can read them. Since booklet printing can be done in several different ways you may be daunted as to how to create particular full color booklets for a certain type of task. Do not worry, there are several general guidelines you can adhere to to produce efficient and quality booklets.

Below are 5 easy tips to take in consideration when print booklets? Why seven you ask? Well we judged that these are the key guides that encompass all the jobs a booklet has to deliver. It is not as hard to remember as the Ten Commandments. Think of it as the 5 habits of highly effective booklet making that will make your life easier.

1. Booklet templates. The most efficient way in designing a booklet is by using a template. Templates already have the proper formatting and style which you can use. More often than not, there are several booklet templates out there for the different kinds of booklets that people can create. Booklet printing services can also offer a few booklet templates themselves for you to choose from. Using these templates save time. This frees you from concentrating on the main purpose of the booklet which is the content.

2. Write concisely and well. A booklet is not a novel. It is a “small book” hence the name right? Try to convey your thoughts clearly with a constant style. You can of course be flowery with your words, but not at the expense of lengthening the booklet. Booklet printing is about having an easily read material for everyone. So write as simple and effective as possible.

3. Use headings and subheadings. Headings and subheadings are the major markers for a booklet. Don’t be afraid to use them. It is actually better for readers to have these headings. This gives them the chance to skip to the information they find most interesting. For a theatrical program for example, some people want directly to read about the cast and characters. You can even try to be memorable and use interesting tag lines as headings.

4. Use simple easy to read fonts. Some people think it is cute to use different styles but this can affect the readability of the booklet. Use a relatively simple and easy to decipher font for most of the content. Use a theme if possible and be consistent when using it.

5. Add pictures and graphics. A booklet full of text isn’t very fun to look at. Even if it is a training manual, realize that a picture can paint a thousand words. Besides describing something in a booklet why not show it? Use images as well to improve the look and feel of the booklet. Add in dividers or borders. Place “clip arts” if applicable and of course have an eye-catching cover picture.

Those should be the bare basics you should remember when making a booklet. They are a quick reference guide to help you create any kind of booklet you desire. Of course there are other specific things you can do, but these five will lead you to have a decent and respectable booklet ready to print.

The World of Fabulous Fantasies on the Screen

Posted by admin

Bollywood movies are reckoned as the complete entertainer in the entire film fraternity. Audience around the whole world hails Bollywood for delivering entertainers in every form of film making. They offer songs, emotions, over-the-top action scenes and of course the morality element which these days hardly exists for the film makers. But Bollywood movies are not only about dancing and making merry, but it is also about the portrayal of emotions in its truest form. This is the prime reason why, Bollywood, all of a sudden has came at par of with the Hollywood (our main competitor) in only a span of last, say eight years. But the road to this newly-discovered zenith hasn’t been an easy one during this journey of more than 60 years. The rich history of Bollywood movies starts from the era when ‘Mother India’ was nominated for the Oscars. The masterpiece, though failed to bring Oscars to India, but opened the gates for film makers to continue the good work. During this whole period, Indian audience was treated to some of the most exceptional works ever done in the global cinema. Comedy movies like ‘Padosan’, ‘Golmaal’, ‘Chupke Chupke’ and many more are still rated as one of the finest work done till date in the Indian film industry. While when it comes to the horror movies, who can forgot the likes of ‘Mahal’ and ‘Woh Kaun thi’, which introduced horror in their most elementary form to the Indian audience. Today both of these genres have undergone a radical change, much due to the change of preferences of audience. The pace of this changes too has exerted tremendous pressure on the film makers, who have done the precisely the same thing that they were asked to i.e., to come up with new, new and out of the world ideas. This is the prime reason why in last few years, people have seen some of the most fantastic works in the cinema domain. With more and more young blood coming into the industry, there has been a prominent increase in the appetite for larger than life script ideas and in the process even explore unconventional side of the society in the form of portrayal of prohibited relationships such as lesbian and homosexuality or even address the issue of bisexuality through the same mode. There are a lots of movies in the market but Comedy movies have their own importance. People always like comedy movies because after seeing these movies you feel freshness in your mind. Moreover, film makers are not even shying away from the idea from hiring the best technologies and workforce, so that they could match up to the standard of the international movies. ‘Kambakht Ishq’ can be seen as one example in this direction. Director ‘Sajid Nadiadwala’ reportedly has roped in the likes of Sylvestor Stallone, Pin-up beauty Carmen Electra, Brandon Routh, former Bond babe Denise Richards and has hired the best stunt coordinator in Spiro Razatos for his dream project. This itself speaks for the standard that Bollywood movies makers are wishing to touch in near future.

Best Places for a First Date

Posted by admin

Picking a place for a first date can be a difficult task, when in fact, it should not be. If he doesn’t have time and you don’t have any clue what to do for the first date, take a look at the following list. This list will also let you focus on the more important things such as dress, conversation, and appearance. Also keep the atmosphere informal. You don’t need the added pressure of a stuffy and pretentious environment. It just may give you some good ideas to take that special someone.

1. You and your date could go to your favorite small restaurant, tapas bar or diner and have a cocktail or coffee drink. I know it sounds typical to go to a bar or coffee shop, but you can always use either one of those two places as a last resort. Keep this date to less than thirty minutes.

2. If you don’t want to try something like those places, I recommend a cozy lounge with nice ambiance. Try someplace where the music isn’t too loud. Try to be comfortable. Make is short evening. You don’t have to stay the entire evening if you don’t want. I recommend you keep this date a maximum of an hour.

3. Art galleries are great places to visit on a first date, if and only if, he can hold a conversation based on art, literature, and/or culture. The art gives you something more to talk about then basic first date conversation.

4. I went on a first date to a comedy club. I think this is a great idea. It helps keep the atmosphere fun and light. Some comedy clubs you are able to drink and eat during the show. The only con to this date is that you won’t be able to really get to know one another unless you go for a drink somewhere after that.

5. My favorite types of first dates are sports activities, tennis particularly. It involves physical stamina. You can challenge your date while staying in shape. The only con is that you will not be able to talk much. But after a good tennis game, you will both work up an appetite, which in most cases would lead to appetizers and dinner. If you don’t want to play tennis, then try bowling. It leaves room for small talk, drinks, and food.

6. Or you can be a kid again and head to play a round or two of miniature golf. It’s a cheap and easy sport to play. When he realizes that you have no idea what you are doing, it will allow him to show you how to putter from behind. I always recommend this for a portion of the first date.

Rather than depending solely on this list, go pick up a Zagat’s food guide or a local food guide and start to pick some places that look interesting. When your date mentions a place that you haven’t been to, at least you will have an idea what’s in store.

Verizon Cell Phone TV Service Launched

Posted by admin

On March 1st, 2007, Verizon Wireless officially launched their mobile TV service, which has been branded Vcast Mobile TV. For now, the service will be available in 20 markets.

The service is already available from Verizon, and users can visit Verizon’s site or call *611 from their handsets to subscribe. Verizon is offering the service for $15.

For users that have already been using Verizon’s Vcast service, there is a package where users can keep all their current service options, and get Vcast mobile TV for $25 total each month.

Vcast currently allows Verizon customers to download music, video clips, wallpapers, screen savers, games, and more. The videos that users have been able to download include: sports highlights, comedy, television shows, and more.

However, none of the shows were live television; surely Vcast users everywhere will be upgrading.

Verizon has announced that Vcast Mobile TV will have eight live channels including: CBS, Comedy Central, Fox, MTV, NBC News, NBC Entertainment, and Nickelodeon. Even though the lineup is quite modest at this point in time, Verizon will be able to get the bugs out of the system. Verizon says that they plan to expand the lineup soon.

Verizon is using Qualcomm’s MediaFlo technology for the service. The technology allows for streaming video to inexpensively reach the hands of wireless users. It appears at this time that AT&T will also use MediaFlo when they release their mobile television service later this year.

AT&T and T-Mobile have both announced that they will be offering some kind of mobile television service sometime this year. Sprint Nextel has yet to comment on the addition of the service. Sprint Nextel does offer, however, a service that allows users to download video clips, so it shouldn’t be a stretch for them to implement.

At this point in time, there is only one model that Verizon offers with the service. The Samsung SCH-a620 offers streaming video and unprecedented full Vcast functionality.

You can pick up the model on Verizon’s site for $150, after all of the available discounts. This price is for new customers and customers who are available for upgrades. All users will have to sign or resign a new 2-year contract to get this price.

Verizon has a second television phone on the way, the LG vx9400. The model should be released later this month. The vx9400 has a swivel screen that allows users to watch television from two different angles. The screen size of the vx9400 is much larger than the SCH-a620, which could be why Verizon is releasing the phone a few weeks after.

Here are the markets where the service is available: Chicago, Ill.; Denver and Colorado Springs, Col.; New Orleans, La.; Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas; Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.; Seattle-Tacoma and Spokane, Wash.; Tucson, Ariz.; Albuquerque and Santa Fe, N.M.; Omaha-Lincoln, Neb.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Norfolk-Richmond, Va.; Salt Lake City, Utah; Palm Springs, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; Wichita, Kan.; Las Vegas, Nev.; and Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo.

The service is already getting positive reviews from quite a few blogs and sites. It will definitely be a positive when the service reaches all markets.

The Differences Between Anime and Cartoon

Posted by admin

Cartoon is a term that once referred to fine art during the renaissance period. Somehow, though, the term’s meaning evolved (or devolved, depending on how you look at it) into humorous and witty illustrations and, finally, into animated programs meant to entertain people, mostly children. For, clarity, the term ‘cartoon’ in this article shall be referring to the animated programs. Recently, however, a new term has been coined: Anime. And the distinction between these two has caused much confusion.

Strictly speaking though, there should be no distinction between anime and cartoon. Anime is a term used by the Japanese to refer to animated cartoons, from their own country and from others as well. Somehow, though, the world started using the term anime in reference to Japanese cartoons exclusively. Japanese animation was once called japanimation, but this term was aptly discarded when the term ‘Anime’ was put into use.

Some say that they see absolutely no difference between the two, even going so far as to classify both cartoons and anime as ‘childish’ because of the nature of how they are presented, much to the woe of anime fans. Technically, there’s no official difference and they are somewhat correct. But you only have to watch a single episode of any anime series and you’ll see that anime is far more than your usual slapstick comedy man-tripping-on-a-banana-peal early morning cartoons. There is a real and profound difference between the two besides their spellings: Anime is so much more than ‘just a cartoon’.

Storylines/Plots

Cartoons usually have a simple and defined plot. And they’re usually about the good guys fighting the bad guys. Cartoons rarely go beyond that old cliché. Most Anime series, on the other hand, are also about the same good vs. evil but the plots are rarely simple and rarely predictable. You’ll find an element of politics, religion, humanity, and a score of several other abstract concepts within an anime. Whereas cartoons are just about ‘evil’ cats chasing ‘innocent’ mice or a hero defending himself and others from a very evil bully. Anime can blur the lines between good and evil so much that you’ll be left wondering which side is really right. Look at the plot of Gundam, there aren’t any good guys or bad guys. They’re both fighting for a cause – a worthy one, and both sides are prepared to do good and evil to achieve their goals. Look at the Wave Country arc of Naruto which is now at Naruto Shippuden. Zabuza, evil as he was, had evoked more sympathetic tears than any of the typical Disney antagonists. There are, however, few exceptions to the ‘cartoons are simple’ rule. There are cartoon series that are far advanced like X-men.

In terms of humor, anime goes beyond the slapstick comedy that cartoons offer. There won’t be any corny joke about the chicken crossing the road with anime. There won’t even be the quintessential banana peal. Anime humor is deep and witty. However, it is to be noted that cartoons are mostly for kids. Anime can be for an adult audience; it mostly is, actually. There are even times when anime plots are hardly suited for children.

Characters

In cartoons, there’s a protagonist, an antagonist, and a damsel in distress. Their roles are well-defined and clear and the characters always act according to their roles. In anime, however, the damsel in distress may very well become the antagonist, leaving the protagonist in distress. There’s no knowing what to expect in anime. Anime characters, a lot of times, are developed overtime through trials and growth, while cartoon characters remain the same from when the show started. (Of course, there are exceptions such as Spiderman.) Since there’s an ongoing plot, Anime characters actually grow up and may even produce the next generation for the series. Anime fans tend to get into the characters a lot deeper because of the characters’ depth and charm. Consider Naruto; viewers see him growing up from an infant to a young powerful ninja, the way he relates to people, the way he learns new techniques, and the way he evolves visually. That is one of the chief reasons for popularities of anime over plain cartoons.

Deviled Pictures - The Rise of a Film Production Company

Posted by admin

Recently Eric Shepard has opened a new motion picture production company, under the name of Deviled Pictures. The company was opened early in 2009.

So far the company has produced several short films, along with a television series.

In June of 2008, Deviled Pictures had released it’s first ever film. The eight minute documentary was released under the title of “New Reigns” (directed and produced by Eric Shepard). The film explores the world of rodeo and all of the struggles modern day cowboys face in order to perserve their western lifestyle in a constantly developing society. So far the film has grown greatly in popularity since it’s release.

Deviled Pictures later produced a television series, called “In Your Kitchen” (created and directed by Eric Shepard). The show was a thirty-minute cooking program. It’s goal was to try and take the comedy element of a sitcom and bring it to what would normally be a rather unappealing cooking program. This ambition of comedy proved to be successful. Soon after the premire of the pilot episode, the show received multiple positive reveiws, and people soon demanded more and more episodes. So far five episodes have been made, completing the first season of the show. “In Your Kitchen” airs thursday nights at six o’clock, on Consolidated network.

Coming soon from Deviled Pictures is a short film, titled “The Dictator Awards” (written and directed by Eric Shepard). Further information on the project will be announced shortly.

Deviled Pictures is expected to announce their first feature-length film sometime within the next year.

Note: Further information will be added on a following date.
