Mexican Films, From Obscurity to a Bright Future (part 2)
Posted by admin
Another Mexican director residing in the US at the time was Guillermo Del Toro, a close friend of both González Iñárritu and Cuarón. This was his second spell in Hollywood; having previously worked there in the 1990âs on Mimic (1997). However, Del Toroâs first Hollywood production was an unpleasant experience, due to the demands of the big studios involved. Consequently, he returned to Mexico, where he had total control over his projects. In 2001, he wrote and directed the much lauded El Espinazo del diablo (The Devilâs Backbone) (2001), an inventive and atmospheric ghost story set in Spain, during the Franco era. After El Espinazo del diablo, Guillermo Del Toro decided to give Hollywood a second chance and his return to the US proved to be very fruitful.
The first project on his return was the comic book adventure Blade II (2002). This was a much smoother production for Del Toro and the movie became very successful, grossing an estimated $155 million worldwide. He followed Blade II with another comic book movie, the wonderfully entertaining Hellboy (2004). The success of Blade II and Hellboy sealed Guillermo Del Toroâs place in Hollywood, but he was soon to revisit his native Mexico to present us with his most accomplished movie to date.
The impact of Mexicans on the international stage was reinforced that same year, when Gael Garcia Bernal gained world wide recognition for his performance in the critically acclaimed road movie Diarios de motocicleta (The Motorcycle Diaries) (2004), from Argentina. He then honed his skills in Spain, with a starring role in La Mala Educación (Bad Education) (2004), working with Spanish maestro Pedro Almodóvar. Over the next couple of years, he continued his world tour with the US production The King (2005) and the surreal French comedy La Science des rêves (The Science of Sleep) (2006), enthralling audiences at each destination with his skilled performances and charming demeanour. Also, 2006 saw him reunite with his Amores Perros director Alejandro González Iñárritu. The result of their reunion was Babel (2006).
Babel was Alejandro González Iñárrituâs third feature movie and by far his most ambitious. It is a sensitive exploration of the difficulties of communication in the modern world and the sense of vulnerability that can result from it. The trilogy of human suffering is a resounding triumph and an essential experience for any movie fan.
Babel was an international phenomenon, revered by the critics and public alike. As a result, it has grossed an estimated $100.4 million to date and has received 74 nominations worldwide, including 7 Oscar nominations in most of the major categories. So far, it has won 15 awards, most notably Best Director and Best Film at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. However, there are still many awards ceremonies to come and Babel will be a worthy challenger for the honours in 2007.
Alejandro González Iñárritu will be joined in the challenge by his compatriots Alfonso Cuarón and Guillermo Del Toro, as both enjoyed success in 2006 with their respective projects Children of Men (2006) and El Laberinto del Fauno (Panâs Labyrinth) (2006).
Children of Men (2006), is a fascinating idea, exquisitely realised by Alfonso Cuarón, displaying his usual assuredness to deliver a fluent and emotional drama, enhanced by resplendent visuals.
The arrival of the amazing El Laberinto del Fauno (Panâs Labyrinth) (2006), brought Mexico to the forefront of world cinema once more, with Guillermo Del Toro delivering his countryâs finest achievement since Amores Perros.
Since its release, El Laberinto del Fauno has grossed $56 million worldwide, gaining 70 nominations along the way, including 6 Oscar nominations. So far, it has won 25 awards, most notably Best Foreign Language Film at this years BAFTA ceremony, which was graciously accepted by Guillermo Del Toro.
In addition to what has already been discussed, it is important to acknowledge the achievements of Mexicans in cinematography. Emmanuel Lubezki, Guillermo Navarro, Rodrigo Prieto and Salma Hayek have all distinguished themselves as proficient craftsmen, contributing to a multitude of hugely successful movies and gaining international recognition in the process. The obvious wealth of Mexican talent, combined with the impending homecoming of the countryâs recent pioneers, should ensure a bright future for Mexican cinema, producing movies that will be celebrated by audiences all over the world.

Overview And Take On Clint Eastwood
Posted by admin
Clint Eastwood was born in 1930 in San Francisco. Clinton Eastwood Jr. was his original name. He dropped out of college in the early 1950’s trying a business related career and found himself an actor in B-movies until he got his first breakthrough in the TV series Rawhide. He went on to spaghetti Westerns starting with a Fistful of Dollars and a Few Dollars More. It wasnt until the third movie, The Good the Bad and the Ugly where he really made his mark. After that he got several starring roles including Where Eagles Dare also starring Richard Burton and Paint Your Wagon. He made another landmark turn in 1971 when he first played the character of Harry Callahan in Dirty Harry.
He continued to do Westerns in the 1970s including High Plains Drifter, Hang ‘Em High and The Outlaw Josie Whales. In the late 70’s he did a few comedy roles including every Which Way but Loose and Every Which Way You Can. In the late 80’s he started directing more movies. One of these is Bird about Charlie Bird Parker. Then also starred and directed White Hunter, Black Heart, a film loosely based on John Huston’s life. Later in his career he surprised everyone for winning best director oscar for Unforgiven. He was also nominated for Best Actor in his role. He has seven children and has been married twice. He also had a long term relationship with frequent costar Sandra Locke.
One of my favorites as a kid is the Outlaw Josie Wales. This is a continuation of his Man with No Name roles but with a better script than most. It is hard to beat Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry. There were a lot of good movies in that series including Magnum Force, also starring Hal Holbrook, David Soul, and Tim Matheson. Dirty Harry’s final movie was The Dead Pool.
Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum to Pursue Directing

Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum is optimistic about his career in directingbased on his debut project called “Freaks,” an episode of Smallville season6. Having this as his groundwork, he picked up a lot from this experiencenaming it the “biggest challenge” he has ever made in the program and in hisentire career.
The villain actor showed much promise and potential with his firstdirectional project garnering a rating of 9.39 on TV.Com. And although therewas not much anticipation with his first work, the outcome of the episodewas surprisingly positive.
Having a number of television appearances, Rosenbaum now yearns for the”behind the camera experience.” As a director, he lost a few pounds and wentthrough a lot of stress. But despite the strenuous and demanding tasks, notto mention the laborious decisions he had to make, he still enjoyed thewhole experience and looks forward to other directional opportunities in thefuture.
His passion and interest in further pursuing directing, especially in thefield of comedy, was evident in his enjoyment of even the littlest detailsof creating the said episode. He takes delight in the thrill of taking incharge of people, not to mention handling a huge sum of money, which he candispose according to his discretion. Moreover, he credits a major part ofhis enjoyment in directing to the people he works with.
More importantly, the directional break became a huge doze of self-discoveryfor Rosenbaum who learned a lot about himself, realizing that he is capableof making influential and crucial decisions at a cooker pressureenvironment.
Ultimately, he is grateful for the rare opportunity he obtained as part ofthe series Smallville. The action packed series has had quite a positivereputation of giving wannabe directors a break in fulfilling theiraspirations just like with Smallville actor Tom Welling who previouslydirected two episodes of the series.

A Toast To The Toast By The Best Man
Posted by admin
Your best friend since grade school is finally tying the knot and has, of course, asked you to be the best man. During the ceremony, you’ll be at his side with all eyes on the happy couple, but at the reception, it’ll be your time to shine in the spotlight. A tradition steeped in history, the toast given by the best man is expected to be a heartfelt, but not overly sappy, speech honoring your friend and his new wife.
Here are some helpful tips on how to give a memorable toast as the best man.
Preparation is of the utmost importance when asked to be the best man in someone’s wedding. You’ll have several responsibilities ahead of you, such as the ever-important wedding toast, so preparing early will allow you plenty of time to edit or re-write if need be. Even if you’re at ease in front of a crowd, a wedding reception is a completely different environment than most are used to, so don’t rely on the hopes that “something will just come to you” when it’s that time.
A wedding can often be an emotional time as well, so you don’t want to find yourself scrambling for something meaningful to say at the last minute in front of the crowd. Begin preparing your speech by writing down whatever comes into your mind first. Let the words flow without worrying about whether they would really make complete sense yet or not, you know what you’re talking about, and there’s plenty of time for revisions since you started planning early.
Practice can really help with perfecting a wedding toast. It’s helpful if you time yourself in front of a mirror, this way you’ll get an idea of exactly how long it takes you from start to finish. Then have a friend, not the groom-to-be of course, listen to the speech and offer their constructive criticism if needed.
Be sure you speak clearly without being too fast or too slow. You’ll want the people in the back of the room along with those that may be hard of hearing to understand what you’re saying too.
If you don’t already know the bride-to-be, make it a point to get to know her sometime before the wedding, or ask your friend some thoughtful questions about her. Enlist the help of her friends and family for anecdotes or stories from her childhood that perhaps you could tie in with something about your friend. An amusing or meaningful story about the groom’s youth would also be well received in a wedding toast as it shows who he was, not only who he is today.
Save the jokes and one-liners for amateur night at the comedy club and focus on the happy couple instead. Remember who your audience is, a good number of people will either be the elderly or young children so use your good judgment when giving your toast.
A little humor is always fine of course, but profanities or wild stories about the groom or the couple will make your speech remembered for all the wrong reasons, not to mention embarrassing the newlyweds as well.
Miami Heat Tickets Feature An Angry Dwyane Wade
Posted by admin
These days, Miami Heat tickets should allow fans to see a team that’s on top of the world. The team won their first NBA championship last season, and they have a long-time centerpiece of the league in Shaquille O’Neal leading the way in star power and overall resident comedy. They also have perhaps the most dynamic young star in the basketball world in Dwyane Wade, a player who is achieving Jordan-level status with his unbelievable talent and performance in pressure situations.
However, all is not right currently with the Heat, and Wade has been speaking out in strange ways in recent days, calling out other stars such as Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James, and this appears to be totally out of character for the usually positive and likeable superstar. Below we’ll take a look at why Wade may be frustrated, and we’ll make our best guess as to whether the Heat will return to their place atop the NBA this summer.
O’Neal’s Injuries
Shaq may be getting older, but even if he isn’t the physical freak he once was, he still commands an enormous amount of attention every time he plays. The problem is that he hasn’t been on the floor much lately, and that clearly makes everything harder for every other member of the team. Without Shaq demanding double teams in the paint on offense, the defense on the perimeter is tighter and teams are less hesitant to drive to the hoop on the other end of the floor.
Age
The Heat made the decision last summer to basically bring back the nucleus of players that won them the NBA title, and that included players such as Antoine Walker, Gary Payton and Alonzo Mourning, a local hero who at one time was able to move Miami Heat tickets all by himself. The problem with this strategy, however, is that age can catch up to basketball players quickly, and without the presence of young legs, this team has been playing tired lately, especially since the absence of O’Neal only creates more of a challenge for everyone involved.
What it all Means
The Heat currently sit two games under .500, and luckily for them, that still keeps them right in the thick of things in the watered-down Eastern Conference. Perhaps this is a team that is thinking of just getting into the playoffs and turning it up a notch at that point. That has worked in the past for other teams, but in reality, this team needs to get healthy and get fresh for the late-season and post-season run.
If they can do so, it still comes down to the fact that the Heat have two of the best players in the game, they won’t be facing a dynamic or dominant team in the Eastern Conference playoffs and will have at worst an even chance against anyone they face in the playoffs. Basically, Miami Heat tickets may still be an opportunity to see a team in the midst of a repeat of their championship run from a year ago, but it’s getting to be about time to kick it into a higher gear.
Release Of ‘Some Like It Hot’ Art Announced By Tony Curtis

“Some Like It Hot” by Tony Curtis depicts him with co-stars Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe in character roles and Hotel Del Coronado in the background.
“‘Some Like It Hot’ was one of my favorite movies, and one that I am most remembered for,” states Tony Curtis, who co-stars with Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe in the classic comedy.
“In ‘Some Like It Hot’ Jack Lemmon and I play musicians who cross-dress to join an all-girl band so we can hide out from the Mob after we witnessed a St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.
“In the band we meet up with Marilyn Monroe, and of course, the storyline dictates that Jack and I both have the hots for her.”
“‘Some Like It Hot’ is considered one of the funniest movies ever was just recently re-released on DVD. There are lots of extras on the DVD such as the late Jack Lemmon offering remembrances, and a chat between myself and, movie reviewer, Leonard Maltin. There are also lots on Marilyn Monroe,” continues Curtis.
“Because of the movie’s popularity I have received many requests over the years to create an image based on the movie.
“My latest release titled ‘Some Like It Hot’ is a montage featuring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and myself in character with the Hotel Del Coronado in the background. One of the first pieces was donated to the Second Chance Foundation for their recent benefit fundraiser at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas.”
“Creating this image brought back many memories of the movie and of my late friends, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe. I already have some more inspirations for creating more images from “Some Like It Hot.” As an artist I only hope that it also brings fond memories to fans of ‘Some Like It Hot,’” concludes Tony Curtis.
Watch Satellite TV on Pc for Movie Lovers

Movie lovers can watch satellite TV on PC nowadays with just an internet connection and powerful software. This convenience has afforded many people the choice of switching from satellite TV services. Satellite TV services are already wildly popular by todayâs standards. Being able to watch satellite TV on PC has just made it even better. We will review what in the first place is so good about satellite TV and why to watch satellite TV on PC has become a craze in many homes worldwide, especially for movie fanatics.
Satellite TV services offer a wide selection of movie channels to their subscribers. People love the flexibility of choosing any movie channel they wish to watch instead of being constrained to one or two local channels. Another selling point of satellite TV is perhaps the viewing experience. Subscribers get no lesser than crystal clear picture and sound quality, parental watch locks and full systematic channel management and controls. It puts a viewer in absolute control of his or her entertainment experience.
If you have been a fan of HBO, you should know by now that it is no longer a single movie channel. With eight different movie channels from HBO, subscribers can now treat themselves to HBO-W, HBO-E, HBO Family, HBO Signature, HBO Latino and HBO Comedy. On top of that, satellite TV viewers can choose to watch satellite TV from other movie packages such as channels from Showtime (10 channels), Cinemax (5 channels) and Starz (8 channels). In short, this practically converts your TV into a mini theatre that offers hours of movie entertainment.
Satellite TV viewers are spoilt for choice with so many channels, but since the TV market is competitive with cable TV taking a larger pie of the market, the satellite TV service providers are always on the search for additional new movie channels. There are pay-per-view channels available to watch satellite TV screening the latest movies. Even though there are adult movie channels, parents can securely lock the movie stations so that children can be protected from such movies.
Technology is always improving and now people can watch satellite TV on PC. Movie viewers used to rely on satellite TV dish set up to receive TV feeds. To watch satellite TV on PC was totally unheard of. The old satellite dish system has a major drawback as transmission can be affected badly in poor stormy weather conditions, especially for states near the coast. Now, with a piece of software installed in your computer, be it a desktop or laptop and a broadband internet connection, you can watch satellite TV to your heartâs content. This is indeed the new generation of satellite TV technology. Since it is dependent on the internet connection for transmission, one can access many more international movie channels, TV shows, educational programs, documentaries and sports channels.

10 Greatest Martial Arts Movies Of All Time
Posted by admin
After hundreds of movies, thousands of eye-popping fight scenes and millions of punches thrown…which ones are the best? Which ones have I been missing out on my whole life? Which ones must I have in my collection in order to not bring shame upon my family name?
We’ve scoured the internet. Reviews. Forums. Amazon. Postings. Bulletins. And this list is what we’ve come up with as the greatest Kung-Fu movies of all time and why you should watch each one. Pay attention to movies involving Yuen Wo-Ping as either director or action director, there’s a reason why half this list is movies where he was involved!
If you want to watch trailers of these movies, go to: http://www.experiencemartialarts.com/articles/movies.html
(you can also get directly to these movies in http://Amazon.com from this website)
#1 – Way of the Dragon (1979)
This is the only finished film to be written and directed by Bruce Lee. (Game of Death is the other one but is unfinished) We could write a lot about the plot, characters or fight scenes…but all you really care about is watching Bruce Lee fight Chuck Norris in the final battle.
Martial Artists: Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris
Director: Bruce Lee
#2 – Shaolin Temple (1982)
Depicts the amazing history of the Shaolin Temple, the focal point for Chinese Martial Arts. Think of the Shaolin Monks as Jedi Knights (an elite group of fighters) and the rest of China as the messed-up universe that Star Wars takes place in (people who are afraid of the elite fighters and want to take them out of power). Much work to do, you have, young Jet Li. picture Yoda’s accent on that one Define Irony: A movie shot at the site of the Shaolin Temple, telling a story about the fall of the Shaolin Temple, sparks so much public interest that the temple was re-opened shortly after the movie released.
Martial Artist: Jet Li (His debut movie)
Director: Chang Hsin-Yen
#3 – Ong Bak (2003)
Raw action without wires, Tony Jaa brings a new martial arts style to the big screen and does so in style. Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) is stronger and more direct than the Chinese styles you’re used to seeing with Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, giving a new look to how a martial arts movie can be done. You’ll be seeing more of him…guaranteed.
Martial Artist: Tony Jaa
Director: Prachya Pinkaew
#4 – Iron Monkey (1993)
Doctor by day, thief by night…Iron Monkey is your classic Robin-hood meets Kung Fu. It’s an action packed flick that can’t go 5 minutes without an excellent fight scene. It all comes down to a battle between Iron Monkey (ie Robin Hood) and an ex Shaolin Monk (remember, these guys are like the Jedi Knights of Chinese martial arts…they’re elite). Remember that guy Yuen Wo-Ping I mentioned? Well he’s the director in this one, so you know it’s good!
Martial Artists: Yu Rong-Guang, Donnie Yen
Director: Yuen Wo-Ping
Action Directors: Yuen Cheung-yan, Yuen Shun-yi
#5 – 5 Deadly Venoms (1978)
No room form “martial arts beauties” in this one, there’s so much blood and action that they only cast male actors. Exit the traditional elaborate costumes and enter the muscular, skin-bearing, bloody martial arts style that would become a trademark for director Chang Cheh. Each cast member is trained in an art resembling one of 5 venemous creatures (Scorpion, Snake, Centipede, Gecko, Toad) with the 6th cast member being trained in all 5. Six main martial arts actors = LOTS O’ ACTION
Martial Artists: 6 Martial Artists (yes, 6 main characters)
Director: Chang Cheh
#6 – The Seven Samurai (1954)
One of the greatest classic kung-fu movies of all time and arguable Kurosawa’s best work. Some Samurai of the time were down on their luck (homeless) and willing to do anything for a meal. A village under attack by bandits recruits a group of seven such Samurai warriors and asks them to help defend their village. The movie is about the Samurai teaching the village how to fight and culminates in a massive battle between a village and almost 50 attacking bandits. The acting is superb, the emotions run high and Kurosawa keeps you hooked from beginning to end.
Martial Artists: 7 Martial Artists (all names you won’t know since this movie is so old)
Director: Akira Kurosawa
#7 – Legend of Drunken Master (1994)
Some will say this is the greatest martial arts movie of all time because of it’s balance between plot-line, comedy, drama and amazing kung fu sequences. Probably Jackie Chan’s best martial arts performance. You’re going to love the final scene where you learn what “Drunken Master” really means. We’re talking box-splitting, fire-spitting craziness!
Martial Artist: Jackie Chan
Director: Lau Kar-leung
#8 – Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000)
Based on a Pentalogy (yes, that’s 5 books) written by Wang Dulu, this movie covers mostly the 4th book. Critically acclaimed to cross international borders with it’s amazing character development, intricate plot, martial arts ideals, stunning special effects and quicker-than-the-eye fighting scenes, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon set a new standard for martial arts movies. Telling Zhang Ziyi (the lead female character and an amazing martial artist) to get back in the kitchen would likely cost you 50 punches to the “bags”. Be ready for subtitles, âcuz turning on the English track is like watching…uh…like watching a kung fu movie in English.
Main Martial Artist: Chow Yun-fat
Other Martial Artists: Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh, Chang Chen, Cheng Pei-pei
Director: Ang Lee
Action Director: Yuen Wo-Ping
#9 – Kill Bill vol. 1 (2003)
You’re going to want your home theatre room for this one. It’s tough to beat beautiful women beating the crap out of each other in fast-paced, action-packed, make you cringe, bloody, gory, cut-’em-up (more buzz words go here) movie jam packed with as much martial arts death as possible. Tarantino expertly uses every camera angle and a plethora of special effects to deliver a better-than-real visual experience that gives this blood-and-guts thriller an artistic feel you’ll appreciate at the end. Did I mention is has Uma Thurman in it?
(”Kill bill vol. 2″ brings closure to the set, but hey…we had to choose one movie. Say “Five-Point-Palm Exploding Heart Technique” 5 times fast.)
Actors: Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Lucy Liu, Daryl Hannah, Vivica A. Fox
Director: Quentin Tarantino
Action Director: Yuen Wo-ping
#10 – Fist of Legend (1994)
A classic story of Chinese vs. Japanese martial arts, Fist of Legend is actually a remake of the original Bruce Lee movie, Fist of Fury. If Bruce Lee is like the original James Bond, Jet Li is the Pierce Brosnan. He’ll never be the original, but the modern film-making and larger budget bring the entertainment value just a hair above the original Fist of Fury. (The ghost of Bruce Lee is probably going to strike me down for writing that) The Yuen Brothers are known for amazing action choreography, and they totally deliver on this one. (Casting Jet Li may have helped them a little too.)
Martial Artist: Jet Li
Director: Gordon Chan
Action Directors: “The Yuen Brothers”
The fun doesn’t stop there.
We tried to stop at only 10…really, we did. But we just couldn’t control ourselves.
“Once it hits your lips, it’s so good!” – Will Ferrell in “Old School”

The Anatomy Of A Celebrity Relationshop
Posted by admin
Popular celebrity gossip magazines such as Star Magazine and the National Enquirer publish titillating tidbits on the love lives of our favorite celebrities. After a while a pattern seems to emerge and the realization that there is and you can dissect the anatomy of a Hollywood relationship.
Just Friends
Upon meeting and deciding that they would like to begin a relationship it is necessary for the couple to deny all connections to the media. This can be done on the talk show circuit, on their website and of course through their publicists. They will of course admit to knowing one another but of course the relationship is always strictly platonic, and they are of course just friends. This is of course until they are ready to come out as a couple, and then will begin to travel the awards show circuit together, and are seen canoodling in public.
We Are Not Engaged
Unfortunately, A list celebrities can do very little without being stalked by the paparazzi. All trips to the jewelry store are suspect, and is generally met with excitement and transplanted upon the pages of gossip shows and magazines. My heart goes out to the prospective groom who may change his mind and is now expected to propose that may have changed his mind for whatever reason.
The Break Ups
I have something of a sixth sense about impending celebrity break ups. The signs are always there, but of course denial is always the name of the game.
Couples that are happy together and are eager to be in the company of one another tend to smile and hold one another. For a myriad of reasons celebrities do not always announce their splits right away and often continue to make the rounds with each other. They rarely smile and once they do it looks painful.
There may be instances of one part of the dynamic duo is seen behaving inappropriately with someone else by cameras or rumors of a budding romance on the set of a movie start making the rounds. Of course, the entertainment industry is business after all. The announcement of a breakup will occur but it must be times perfectly. The old adage is that all publicity is good publicity. What could be more compelling than a starlet who has had her heart broken? Especially if it happens to occur around the same time that her new romantic comedy is opening up and she finds the man of her dreams.
2007 Jeep Patriot Loaded With Radical Sound System Technologies
Posted by admin
The Jeep brand has always been known for producing some of the best off-road vehicles ever as much as a Volvo rotor is known for their braking efficiency. They have time and time again raised the bar on what an off road vehicle should be. And with the 2007 Jeep Patriot, they have proven once again that they are one, if not the best, producers of compact sport utility vehicles.
The Jeep Patriot is dubbed as the most capable vehicle in its class, thanks to its three drivetrain configurations which allows consumers to choose which drive configuration suits them best. The Jeep Patriot can be a front-wheel drive vehicle or an all-wheel drive one. Both configurations have the reputation of the Jeep trademark of being power efficient.
Aside from the drivetrain configurations that allow the Patriot to take on some of the harshest off-road conditions, one thing that stands out is its cutting edge sound system. The Jeep Patriot has an astounding array of sound system technologies that any music lover will surely love. The off-road vehicle is equipped with a Boston Acoustics sound system that can pump out 458 watts for the userâs listening pleasure. A liftgate speaker allows for great outdoor aural experience. This cutting edge technology puts the Patriot at the top of its class when it comes to entertainment features.
Aside from the liftgate speakers, the sound system is a collection of four 6×9-inch full-range speakers on all the doors. Two 2.5-inch tweeters are also integrated into the instrument panel. Two 3.5-inch mid-range tweeters are also integrated into the swing-down liftgate panel. All of these are complemented by an eight-channel amplifier and a two-channel amplifier for the subwoofer. The sound system gives users the best sound definition that can be found in any mass produced vehicle sound system. The system is distinguished by a clear octave-to-octave tonal balance, natural frequency response, and crystal clear presentation. The Boston Acoustics sound system also features a flat frequency response in addition to all the features mentioned.
Now, aside from the speaker system that is compatible with MP3 players, the vehicle is also equipped with a satellite radio which gives user the best selection of music without commercials. This can also be enjoyed through the advanced sound system. More than 130 channels are available for Jeep Patriot owners and passengers to choose from. Aside from commercial-free music, they can also enjoy listening to play-by-play sports, news, comedy and a variety of programming for kids, women or for the whole family. Regional traffic and weather reports are also made available to drivers through the Sirius satellite radio. The factory installed satellite radio includes a one-year subscription.
Another great feature that the Patriot is equipped with is a hands-free communication system. The UConnect system allows Patriot drivers to talk hands-free while driving eliminating the hazard of driving only with one hand. The phone can be used with the onboard speaker while the controls and the microphone are integrated into the rearview mirror which adds to the convenience of the hands-free system. The UConnect system is loaded with features which make it more convenient. Voice dialing allows the drivers to call a person without having to press buttons. The system also allows Patriot owners to store up to 128 phone numbers in its Audio Address Book.
An Audio-system Mute feature is also thrown into the mix. This feature automatically mutes the radio when a call is in progress, and for private conversation, the vehicleâs speakers can also be muted. Transferring calls is also permitted by the system as well as allowing as many as seven phones to be used within the Patriot system.
